Have you ever bought a candle that came in a beautiful vessel that you wanted to keep? Sometimes getting the leftover wax out of the candle jar can be messy and difficult. Well, we love sustainability and finding new ways to reuse things, so we're excited to show you three different ways to clean your candle jars to reuse them! Click here to watch our youtube tutorial!
The first method is to place you candle jar into the freezer. Wait two hours or until wax is hardened. Take a knife and break up the wax! When all the wax is out, clean your jar with soap and water to reuse.
Make a double boiler. If you're unsure of what that is, click here! Place your candle jar in the double boiler and wait for the wax to melt. Either pour it into the trash or discard into whatever you'd like. Do NOT pour wax down the sink!
This is our favorite method to use. In a kettle or pot, boil water. Pour the boiling water into the candle jar until it almost reaches the top. This will allow the wax to melt and float to the top! Once it's all solidified at the top, press down to break the wax away from the side and take it out in one piece!
If you're like us, you may not want to throw away the leftover wax from your candles. So what can you use it for?
